Today, we arrived in Shanghai at four in the afternoon.We decided to explore some attractions near our hotel. We stumbled upon one of Shanghai’s attractions, “Nanxiang Ancient Town/Old Street.” This area is a traditional commercial and residential district, which has been restored by the government to resemble the historical charm of “Yin Nanxiang” from the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China period, featuring pink walls and black tiles. Nanxiang is most famous for its xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), a must-try when visiting here.

Admission to the ancient town is free, but separate tickets are required for various small attractions within the town.
Opening Hours: Nanxiang Ancient Town is open all day, while restaurants and shops within the town operate based on their individual opening hours (most close around 8 p.m.).

Nanxiang Old Street
As I stepped into Nanxiang Ancient Town, I was immediately captivated by the scene before me.
Rows of ancient buildings lined the cobblestone streets, as if time had stood still in this place.
The architecture exuded a strong sense of antiquity, with every brick and tile bearing traces of stories.
We wandered through the ancient town, feeling the soul of this old town.
I found the overall atmosphere of the ancient town quite charming, reminiscent of the historical settings often seen in period dramas on television.
Food and drinks were available on both sides of the old street, so there was no need to worry about going hungry.
Since we visited on a weekday, the crowd was sparse, and I would recommend avoiding weekends.
On holidays, this place can get extremely crowded, which might slightly diminish the quality of the tourist experience.
There are many shops along Nanxiang Old Street, and the commercial atmosphere is strong.
The evening scenery is different.
The Twin Towers of Nanxiang are well-known landmarks here.
There are many delicacies here.
The Changxing Building is a must-visit old eatery.
